In Ad fundum, (tot op de bodem; ook als toost: tot op de bodem het glas leegdrinken) is het glas nog dichter bij de waarnemer gekomen. Natuurlijk betreft het hier de schilder, maar het beeld is zo direct dat nu ook de toeschouwer bijna ‘medeplichtig’ wordt gemaakt. De zichtbare werkelijkheid wordt in deze situatie langzaam verzwolgen. Het beeld kolkt weg in de bodem van het glas.

In Ad fundum, (to the bottom, also in a toast: ‘Bottoms up!’) the glass has come even closer to the observer. Of course this is the painter, but the image is so direct that the observer is almost made an ‘accomplice’. Visual reality is now slowly being swallowed up. The image is swirling to the bottom of the glass.

Auf Ad fundum (bis zum Boden; auch als Trinkspruch: das Glas bis zum Boden austrinken) ist das Glas dem Beobachter noch näher gekommen. Hierbei meinen wir natürlich den Maler, aber das Bild ist so direkt, dass man sich als Betrachter schon beinahe ‘mitschuldig’ fühlt. In dieser Situation wird die sichtbare Wirklichkeit langsam verschlungen. Das Bild wirbelt in dem Boden des Glases weg.
