We bevinden ons inderdaad voor een tafel. Daarop draait het blikje langzaam om zijn as. Omdat we het blikje altijd onder dezelfde hoek waarnemen, dwingt het ons om het tafereel zo – en niet anders – gade te slaan.

It turns out that we find ourselves in front of a table. On the table the can slowly revolves around its axis. As we always perceive the can at the same angle, we are forced to see the scene thus—and not in any other way.

Wir sind wirklich vor einem Tisch, auf dem sich die Dose langsam um ihre eigene Achse dreht. Weil wir die Dose immer in dem selben Winkel wahrnehmen, zwingt sie uns die Szene so – und nicht anders – zu beobachten.
